Alejandro is part of a small community living on the edge of a protected marshland. As he prepares to enter their sacred ground for the ritual gathering of the wild horses, he prays for protection as life in and around the swamp is threatened by the drought and forest fires that rage stronger every year.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

Niels Devlieghere (°1992, Belgium) began his academic career studying architecture, after graduating he transitioned to film. In 2017 he started at the Royal Institute for Theatre, Cinema and Sounds (RITCS) in Brussels and later got his degree as a director. His graduation film ‘Elong E’nabe’ won the Wildcard for documentary from the Flemish Film Fund (VAF) and got selected at several film festivals. Since then he made several documentary series for Belgian television while simultaneously working on his short film ‘Tropa’ which will be released by 2023.
