ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
Jeremy Luke Bolatag is a filmmaker originally from the Philippines, living and working in Belgium. He seeks to explore themes on diaspora and identity, diving deep in human emotions and interpersonal relationships. Jeremy earned his bachelor's degree in Film at the University of the Philippines Film Institute. His thesis film, KATONG GABII, was awarded Special Commendation for Documentary and received international acclaim after being screened at numerous film festivals, including the shortlist for the 2018 BAFTA Student Film Awards. His project, ISAGANI, was selected as a grantee for Hot Docs’ CrossCurrents
International Doc Fund 2021 and participated at Docs by the Sea 2022's Producing Lab. His short film, WHEREVER THE SUN IS, premiered at DocLisboa International Film Festival 2023 while his other work I KISS YOUR HAND, MADAME is set to compete at Budapest International Documentary Festival 2024.
With an Erasmus Mundus scholarship, he completed his master’s in Documentary Film Directing (DocNomads) in 2023 and finished as Magna Cum Laude. Jeremy is also an alumnus of Tribeca Film Institute’s IF/Then, One World Media’s Global Short Docs Forum, and FFD & Docmonde France’s ASIADOC. During his free time, you'll find him strumming his ukulele and singing to himself.
